Carol McClure, RHU, ChHc
Registered Health Underwriter – Chartered Healthcare Consultant
Carol McClure grew up in Oak Park, Illinois. After studying for her Masters from Northern Illinois University, she moved to Seattle to be a special education teacher. When New York Life started looking for teacher trainers, she jumped at the chance to enjoy steady work and opportunities for growth. Five years later, she was offered a promotion in Alaska, but chose to stay in Seattle by joining Prudential. For 14 years, she worked as a functional specialist in Prudential’s group business division. In 1996, that division spun off and became the basis for Financial Designs, Inc.
Carol helps small companies stay complaint with state healthcare regulations and offer the very best healthcare options to their employees. Employer Sponsored Plans come with loads of provisions, so Carol helps her clients stay on top of which plans make the most sense.
Carol offers clients an annual benefits package review and guides them towards plans that provide value, stability and room for long-term growth. From an administrative and financial standpoint, it is not wise to constantly switch providers and plans, so an informed decision up front can result in years of client and employee satisfaction.
During Open Enrollment, Carol can provide notices to employees and help each person review their policies. If plan changes make sense, she can manage the paperwork. Year-round, as employees join or depart the company, Carol can assist with plan enrollment and termination. Carol’s most important role is to advise employers so they can administer their plans with ease.
Carol is also a Medicare specialist and provides expert counsel for qualifying members. She also works with individuals and families to find affordable healthcare plans.
When Carol isn’t working, she enjoys time with her family, travel, political involvement, and volunteering for her favorite non-profits.
Individual and Family Healthcare Insurance Advisor
Karol was raised in Port Angeles, Washington. She received a BA degree in Accounting and Economics from Western Washington University. For 11 years, Karol worked as office manager, event planner and Board of Directors/Lobbyist liaison for the Washington State Hotel & Lodging Association. She shared office space with Carol McClure for a while and eventually joined forces with Financial Designs to became a licensed health insurance agent.
Since 2000, Karol has helped individual and families make wise healthcare decisions. Every person has a unique story, special needs and different priorities. Karol can help them make assured, informed decisions during the madness of Open Enrollment season. Year-round, she can help clients who are new to town, recently married or divorced, switched jobs, lost employment or retired.
Many of Karol’s clients have never had health insurance before. She takes the time to answer their questions and teach them what they need to know to make wise decisions for years to come.
Thanks to the Affordable Healthcare Act (aka: Obamacare), patients can no longer be denied coverage for pre-existing medical conditions; all plans are priced the same based upon a person’s age, non-smoker/smoker status and county of residence. People at certain income levels may qualify for free insurance or a tax credit to lower the cost of insurance, which helps them purchase the coverage they need.
When Karol isn’t assisting clients with health insurance, she likes to spend time with her three children. She enjoys cooking, traveling and being a dance mom for her 16-year-old son who is a competitive dancer.
